Historic Lebanon’s 16th Annual Historic Places Tour: A Holiday Celebration at Castle Heights Campus

Bring the family and join Historic Lebanon on Sunday, December 8th, from 3:00 to 5:30 pm for the 16th Annual Historic Places Tour, a festive event celebrating the rich history of the Castle Heights Campus. This year, the tour is centered entirely on the Castle Heights campus, featuring three iconic locations: the Mitchell House, Castle Heights Military Academy Archives & Museum, and the Lebanon History Museum. In addition to learning more about the Castle Heights history, guests can enjoy holiday treats, listen to Christmas carolers, meet Santa and Mrs. Claus, and capture photos with a beautiful holiday backdrop.

Event Details:

  • Date: Sunday, December 8th

  • Time: 3:00 – 5:30 pm

  • Location: Castle Heights Campus, Lebanon, TN

  • Tickets: $10 in advance at the Lebanon/Wilson County Chamber office (149 Public Square) or online below. Children under 12 are free.

  • Night-of Admission: $15 at the Mitchell House welcome table (cash or check only).

Tour Locations

1. The Mitchell House

Address: 106 N. Castle Heights Ave.

  • Year Built: 1910
    Originally the residence of Castle Heights President David Mitchell, this impressive three-story structure boasts 10,600 square feet of Neoclassical architecture, including hand-carved woodwork, ornamental ceilings, and a grand staircase. After serving as the Junior School for Castle Heights Military Academy, it was restored by the Cracker Barrel Foundation in 1998 and is now maintained by the City of Lebanon.


2. Castle Heights Military Academy Archives & Museum

Address: 702 Cadet Court

  • Year Built: 1912
    This museum, located in the historic Rutherford Parks Library (built in 1912), preserves Castle Heights Military Academy’s legacy with exhibits showcasing the history of the school, cadet life, athletics, notable alumni, and memorabilia.


3. Lebanon History Museum

Address: 200 N. Castle Heights Ave.

  • Year Built: 1923, Revitalized 2021

    Housed on the former Castle Heights campus, this museum underwent a major revitalization in 2021 to enhance its exhibits, which highlight Lebanon’s history through interactive displays. Currently featured is “The History of Lebanon through Antiques,” a unique collection collaboration for the holiday season.
